Syllabus

In each class a corpus of texts and authors will be selected that encompasses three of the areas of spoken expression (historical prose, including political, technical prose; epistolography; rhetoric, including theory and philosophical prose panegyrics). The authors will be studied from a standpoint of their era and the evolution of the genre or theme. Having outlined the general characteristics of art and writings of each author, we will analyze texts in Latin which are representative of theme and style of each author.
