Learning Outcomes

At this level of learning Greek students are confronted with the dialectical diversity in Ancient Greece, specially with the so-called 'Eastern Bolck'. Starting from the poetical, artificial and composite language of Homer, students make acquaintance in Greek VI with the Ionian Greek of Herodot. In what concerns grammmar, this is the  adequate level to make deeper sistematizations, like the syntax of grammar cases with their specificities, the applications of verbal mods and tenses, the enlargement of  the study of uses of prepositions. Such task makes possible the appreciation  of stylistic options and subtle sense variations in the texts. It is give special emphasis to the enlargement of lexical knowledge. So the main objectives of  expected competences in Ancient Greek given by a diploma of 1º cycle Classical Studies are attained.
