Teaching Methods
The emphasis will be on the active learning of the language through reading and translation work. Grammatical content will be introduced and systematized using the texts to be studied. Students will translate sentences into Greek in written and/or oral form in order to strengthen the material studied. Homework will be required. Active method: students are continuously asked to participate.
Learning Outcomes
The student should
-read texts in Greek;
-write in Greek, applying spelling, accentuation, the rules of contraction and elision;
-recognize the modalities of sentences (declarative, interrogative, imperative, exclamation, negative clauses)
-recognize, through enunciation, the different morphological categories;
-distinguish variable words from invariable words;
-know the fundamental models of nominal flexion;
-know verbal flexion regarding the active and middle voice and of verbs at -ω;
-know the fundamental rules of syntax, in order to translate simple texts into Portuguese and to produce small sentences into Greek;
-acquire a reasonable vocabulary for different contexts of comunication;
-master the dictionary use;
-recognise Greek etymology in Portuguese vocabulary.

Morphology
1. the nominal system: gender, number, cases.
2. Notions of steem, themes, thematic vowel, desinence endings
3. The verbal system: time, mode, voice.
4. the nominal declension: the consonant and the semivowel themes of the 3rd declension; the adjectives; the comparative and superlative degrees of the adjectives; the pronouns.
5. verb blexion: the thematic verbs. The active voice and the middle voice.
6. some invariable words: the adverbs, the subordinate conjunctions, the prepositions, some particles.
Syntax
The simple sentence: the interrogative sentence; the negative sentence; main circumstantial complements
