Teaching Methods
The study of the Greek language is done by reading, analyzing and commenting on expressions / simple phrases / small texts, through constant use of student participation and confrontation with the Portuguese language. The subjects are systematized mainly from the studied expressions / phrases / texts.
Learning Outcomes
The student must:
- read Greek expressions/phrases/ texts;
- establish parallels between the structure of the Portuguese language and that of the Greek language;
- understand the morphosyntactic structure of the Greek sentence;
- express in Portuguese the message of Greek texts;
- translate Greek phrases/ small texts into Portuguese;
- translate sentences into Greek;
- relate the Portuguese language with the Greek matrix, enriching the Portuguese vocabulary and reinforcing the communicative competence through linguistic reflection.

I. Phonetics and Prosody
1.1 Alphabet and pronunciation.
1.2 Notions of quantity.
1.3 Spirits and accents: rules of their placement; the encyclicals.
1.4 Punctuation signs.
II. Morphology
2.1. The cases and their functions.
2.2. The name: notion of radical, of theme and of desinence; the 1st and 2nd declinations; brief reference to the 3rd declination.
2.3 The article: flexion and functions.
2.4 The adjective: 1st class adjectives.
2.5. The pronoun: flexion of personal pronouns and demonstrative pronouns.
2.6 Verbal flexion: notion of radical, theme, thematic vowel, characteristic and desinence; primary and secondary tenses; active, middle and passive voices. Verbs in -w not contracts; the verb eimi.
2.7 Some invariable words: adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions, particles.
III. Syntax
3.1. The expression of various circumstantial complements.
