Teaching Methods

- Theoretical presentation by the teacher: examples of scripts, narratives and films, indicating the potential for development;

- analysis of examples and discussion in class in order to bring to fruition an initial idea;

- formation of work groups around a project;

- move to pro-filmic writing and discussion of possible alternatives for each example;

- doing work and debate in class, step by step;

- writing and rewriting the script and planning;

- shoot simulation, staging, editing;

- phase by phase assessment with different percentages for the final grade.

Learning Outcomes

The graduation Arts Workshops, pertaining to Cinema, Theatre and Music, are intended both for the artistic creation experience as to the development of artistic mediation tools.

Through the Cinema workshop, the student should be able:

- to acquire the experience of the multifaceted and phased process of creating a narrative film, structured in several stages;

- thus, to develop his artistic capabilities, his technical knowledge, and his organizational, planning, and writing skills;

- through group work and class discussion in each of the steps, to improve his critical faculties and their use in the field of film art.

Syllabus

- Study of narrative techniques using screenplays, literary works, poems, films;

- work on literary and dramatic texts on images or on pre-existing movies, with a the purpose of creating a film idea to develop;

- the initial idea following the development of drama and comedy parameters, already setting up the framework of the great narrative, creating spaces, times and characters;

- transition to the pro-filmic writing, with the division into scenes, plans, characterization of places, moments and actions;

- choice of actors, wardrobe, and props depending on the film to be directed;

- demand and characterization of spaces and filming places and technical choices;

- staging and filming of some scenes;

- editing and sonorization of some shots.
