Syllabus

The course proposes a journey through the Portuguese Musical Heritage based on primary sources and properly putted in context and into sound. It aims to provide the first bibliographic and methodological tools for academic / artistic thought on Music and Musicology. The discussion of the different subjects will always be accompanied by a critical review of the state of research. A tour, mainly but not necessarily diachronic, of the History of Portuguese Music, since the first traces of the Mozarabic rite or of the troubadour tradition until the question of the "non inscription" of the Portuguese contemporary art music.
