Learning Outcomes

This unit is focused on natural languages Semantics, and the Portuguese language is the object of description.

The unit aims to provide basic concepts and analytical tools which will enable the students to identify the essential components of word meaning and sentence meaning.

General competencies:

-           develop the ability to analyse linguistic data in a semantic perspective;

-           identify and discuss basic issues in the areas of lexical semantics and sentence semantics;

-           develop the ability to identify and solve problems involving semantic anomalies.
