Teaching Methods
M1– Lectures by the teacher using documents in digital or print format whenever necessary;
M2– Discussion of texts previously read by the students with the aim of exemplifying the topics addressed and developing the students’ critical reading skills;
M3- Practical exercises to exemplify methods of analysis in linguistics.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the semester, students should: (i) know, in general, the mechanisms that enable human beings to acquire and maintain a natural language; (ii) distinguish the defining features of human verbal language (unity in diversity); (iii) understand variation in languages (diversity in unity); (iv) identify the different levels of linguistic description; (v) master the appropriate terminology.
