Italiano 3 or an intermediate knowledge of Italian, corresponding to B1 level of Common European Framework fr Language.
Teaching Methods
This course will focus on press, literature and cultural agents contemporary Italian as primary resource. Students will study oral and written texts in order to develop their skills in producing textual matter of opinion, inferencing and formulating hypotheses. Grammar and syntactic exercises will be a crucial stage of the course. A proper use of grammar and of monolingual dictionary will be emphasized.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the semester, students should be able to develop students skills in morphosyntactic structures, pronunciation, orthography and lexicon of the Italian language to a [B2 ] “Vantage” broad level, as described by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

1. Phonological system of Italian.
2. Morphosyntactic structures: further study of pronouns and adjectives; conjugation and usage of regular and irregular verbs and of modal verbs in the Indicative, Subjunctive and Imperative moods and tenses; impersonal verbs; simple and complex sentences.
3. Means of mass communication in Italy; ecology and natural heritage; art and heritage; ancient Rome; Herculaneum and Pompeii; immigration and work; volunteer work and civic awareness; cultural wealth of Italian regions; Italy's contributions to world culture; literary and cinema festivals (Venice, Rome, Turin).
4. Assignment Topic: Language and cinema (creation of a short movie film script).
