Learning Outcomes

At the end of the semester, students should be able:

(i) to describe the French linguistic norm (in France) and to identify diatopic, diaphasic and diastratic variation (within French-speaking regions in Europe and other continents);

(ii) to explain the different moments of the French language evolution within their historical and cultural context.

(iii) to compare French with other languages, with special focus on Portuguese.

(iv) to understand the dimension of FLE within language learning and translation contexts.
