Teaching Methods

The methods adopted are based on the students’ active participation in analytical tasks during classes, followed by feedback and discussion. The teacher will present the topics and the students will work in pairs or small groups. They will have to carry out tasks of research in order to prepare their intervention in class discussions. The teaching method is thus student-centered and task-based, stimulating dialogue, active participation and group work.

Learning Outcomes

This course provides a systematization and deepening of knowlelege in linguistics. Students will:

1) Deepen their knowlege of Spanish linguistics.

2) Acquire and reinforce their knowledge of Spanish phonetics, phonology, orthography and morpho-syntax from a comparative perspective with Portuguese.

3) Acquire and reinforce their understanding of word formation in Spanish from a comparative perspective with Portuguese.

4) Develop the following abilities:

- Analysis and reflection on questions of grammar, phonetics, phonology, orthography and morpho-syntax of the Spanish language.

- Analysis and reflection on processes of word formation in Spanish.

- Communication, argumentation and critical debate.
