Teaching Methods
Classes will be divided in moments of greater lecturing character (for which both teacher and students will be responsible), moments of thorough text analysis and moments of collective debate over specific issues raised by the literary works in question.
Learning Outcomes
This curricular unit aims at familiarizing students with representative texts of the German literature from the middle of the 19th century till the 1920s. It intends to develop the sensibility to the literary text, as well as to encourage critical reflexion on the dialogue between literature and its multiple contexts (historical, social, aesthetical, receptional, etc.).
By the end of the semester, students should be able to:
1. understand the literary text in its semantic and technical-compositive elements;
2. analyse and comment literary and programmatic texts of the periods in question, showing intellectual autonomy, synthesizing abilities, argumentation skills and high proficiency in oral and written expression;
3. show that they have developed attitudes of intellectual curiosity and rigor, as well as a critical and emancipated thought.
