Teaching Methods

Favouring active learning methodologies, the contents will be discussed and illustrated, whenever possible, with examples, whereas urging students to present their knowledge on the various themes. Self-checking exercises will be carried out using online platforms.

The analysis of case studies, communications from invited experts and field work will encourage students to get closer to the reality of tourism and their training regarding the sustainable valuation of cultural landscapes associated with tourism.

Learning Outcomes

The main objective of the course is to provide students with solid knowledge and operative skills related to the interrelationships between landscapes, cultural heritage, and tourism. Specifically, regarding:

–  fundamentals of cultural landscapes;

–  interrelationships between cultural tourism and the territory;

–  various types of landscapes and their interrelation with tourist demand;

–  cultural landscapes as factor of local development;

–  the tourist experience of cultural landscapes.

 

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:

– understand the fundamentals of cultural landscapes;

– interpret the interrelations between cultural tourism and the territory;

– relate the various types of cultural landscape to different cultural tourism products;

– recognize the cultural landscapes as factor of local development;

– discuss the tourist experience of cultural landscapes;

– develop skills in planning and managing cultural tourism linked to the landscape.
