Teaching Methods

The practical classes will be based on the presentation and discussion of the syllabus. Students will be encouraged to actively participate in class. They will be motivated to apply the skills acquired through practical activities, including problem solving and analysis and discussion of case studies. The collection, presentation and discussion of evidence illustrative of relevant professional experience will be encouraged.  The tutorials will be guidelines to support the creation of an event synopsis.

Learning Outcomes

Identify the different types of events relevant to tourism, classifying them based on their differentiating elements.

Knowing the different stages of the organization of an event relevant to tourism.

Relate the transactions inherent in the organization of events to different types of events.

Understand the relevance of events for product and tourist destinations qualification.

Understand the importance of event strategies for positioning and competitiveness of tourist destinations.

Assess the impact of events on communities, cities, regions and on host countries. 

Contact event organization companies to analyze specific events in detail.

Prepare a synopsis of an event project.
