Teaching Methods

The development of the contents is carried out based on a theoretical-empirical approach, building a basic frame of reference, through the exposition of contents accompanied by examples related to the tourist activity, and the realization of exercises. This approach is complemented, from an application perspective, with a group work aimed at the collection, treatment and interpretation of statistical series.

Learning Outcomes

Overall objective: application of the main concepts and tools associated with Economics that allow the analysis and interpretation of tourism as an economic activity and the development of capacities for economic analysis of tourism.Learning outcomes: explain basic concepts of economics; identify, select and collect data series, and calculate and interpret indexes and rates of change; describe in economic terms the components of the tourism market; distinguish impacts on market balance resulting from variations in the determinants of demand and supply; recognize the different forms of State intervention in the economy; explain the significance of exchange rates for tourism and the contribution of tourism to the balance of payments; identify the main economic impacts of tourism activity.Development of the following generic competencies: capacity of analysis and synthesis; ability to orally and written communication; ability to work in groups; ability to apply knowledge in practice.
