Teaching Methods
The practical classes will be based on the presentation and discussion of the syllabus. A heuristic method will be used and students will be encouraged to actively participate in class. They will be motivated to apply the skills acquired through practical activities, including multimedia resources and exercises. The system components will encourage a theoretical and practical understanding applied to research. Guidance will be provided to support students in these exercises.
Learning Outcomes
Provide students with solid knowledge of the fundamentals of the tourism system, standardizing the basic training needed for the degree course units.
Recognize the multiple interpretations of tourism and, in these contexts, the interpretation of tourism as a system.
Interpret the tourism system as a multidimensional and complex reality
Understand the importance of theories:general systems theory, complexity,chaos and the rhizomes for understanding the tourism system
Analyze different conceptualizations of the tourism system identifying its main components and the specificity of the functions performed by each of the components.
Recognize the importance of information and communication for the functioning of the tourism system.
Assess the relevance of the environment for the system.
Understand the importance role of quality, sustainability, innovation and competitiveness in the tourist system.
Reflect on the challenges that competitiveness puts on the management of the tourism system.
