Teaching Methods

The class is theoretical-practical in nature: presentation of content, clarification of doubts and tasks assigned  by the teacher; presentation and discussion of comments and tasks by students.

Learning Outcomes

The aim is to show the characteristics of this area of ​​knowledge of cultural materials of contemporary society and intervention in cultural and natural heritage; teach students to use the methodologies; draw attention to its potential as a usable technology from different perspectives and interests; alert to the urgency and the advantages of a more active and systematic defense posture and monetization of industrial heritage.

Students will acquire research skills in the material culture of contemporary societies; collaboration with other knowledge in projects of industrial archeology; recognition of the existence and virtues of industrial heritage; connection to areas such as urban and spatial planning, organizational culture and marketing, museology and cultural dissemination, education and training, cultural tourism and revitalization of areas or economic sectors in crisis.

1. Nature and history, context of affirmation and the evolutionary process of industrial archaeology.

2. Characteristics and scope, methodologies and documentation of industrial archaeology.

3. Some basis ideas about the characteristics and cultural material of contemporary societies.

4. Cultural and natural heritage:  identity and momory.

5. Ideas and social function of industrial heritage: legislation, institutional framework and social practice.

6. Associations for the protection of heritage (cultural and natural) and industrial heritage.

7. Industrial Archaeology, education and training, science communication and cultural promotion.

8. Industrial heritage, architecture, urban and land planning.

9. Museology, new museology and industrial heritage.

10. Cultural tourism and industrial heritage.

11. Industrial heritage, economic activity and social policy.

12. Industrial Archaeology, sustainable development and strengthening of democracy.
