Theoretical-practical classes, combining lectures by the teacher with students’ participation in the analysis and discussion of texts and documents
Learning Outcomes
Students will
– learn about the origins and development of higher education in Portugal since the foundation of the Studium Generale until the present, focusing on students’ daily experiences and sociability;
– understand the impact of the diaspora of college graduates throughout the Portuguese empire;
– Have an overall view of the decisive role played by the university in the formation of Portuguese elites and how this influenced Portuguese society.
