Teaching Methods

The teaching methodologies will be adjusted according to the number of students per class and the evaluation regulations of the Faculty, at the beginning of each academic year. Classes will be structured around 1) lecture sessions, 2) case analysis, 3) critical discussion of reference texts and / or current news, 4) autonomous reading of texts by students and 5), production of journalistic texts. The following types of work will be privileged: news, reportage, interview, editorial.

Learning Outcomes

Journalism genres is a theoretical and practical course that takes into account the categorization followed in Brazil, Portugal, Spain, France and Germany. With the studies of journalism genres is intended for students:

1) identify the characteristics of the general narrative texts of information, opinion and entertainment;

2) know and specifically identify the basic genres of journalism;

3) to understand and know how to use the structure of different journalistic genres;

4) acquire critical skills to analyze the narrative strategies within each gender independently;

5) will confront reference works of journalism in Portugal and abroad;

6) develop and acquire a taste culture narrative demands on journalistic discourse.
