Teaching Methods

Teaching methodologies will be settled in the beginning of each academic year according to the number of students per class and the Faculty of Letters regalements of evaluation. Classes will be structured based on 1) lecture sessions, 2) case analysis, 3) critical discussion of reference texts and / or journalistic actuality, 4) independent reading of texts by students and 5), if possible, the production of newspaper articles.

Learning Outcomes

Journalism genres is a theoretical and practical course that takes into account the categorization followed in Brazil, Portugal, Spain, France and Germany. With the studies of journalism genres is intended that students:

1) identify the characteristics of the general narrative texts of information, opinion and entertainment;

2) know and specifically identify the basic genres of journalism;

3) to understand and know how to use the structure of different journalistic genres;

4) acquire critical skills to independently analyze the narrative strategies within each gender;

5) will confront reference works of journalism in Portugal and abroad;

6) develop and acquire a taste culture narrative demands on journalistic discourse.
