Teaching Methods
Students will read and discuss literary and historical texts as well as newspaper articles compatible with level B1 on the topic “Italia del Nord ed Italia del Sud: storia, geografia e cultura di una divisione piú o meno apparente”. Films and other audiovisual materials in Italian will be used in class. With the help of the instructor, students will make presentations and participate in debates and discussions.
Learning Outcomes
Reading, writing and conversation will be emphasized in this course, with the aim of developing students’ receptive and productive skills in Italian.Students should become independent users of the language, acquiring skills corresponding to CEFR level B1.
At the end of the course, students will be able to work in a more autonomous manner with texts in Italian, to speak and produce simple connected texts about subjects that are familiar to them or of personal interest, acquiring also more confidence in pronunciation and spelling.

Accents and word stress; velar and palatal sounds; double vs. single consonants
2.Morphosyntactic structures
–alocutive pronouns
-indefinite pronouns & adjectives
-combined pronouns (revision)
-pronominal particles
-conjugation and use in the active and reflexive voice of regular and irregular verbs and modal verbs in the indicative (passato prossimo, imperfetto, passato remoto, trapassato prossimo, futuro semplice e anteriore), conditional (presente e passato), subjunctive (presente, passato, imperfetto e trapassato), infinitive and imperative tenses
-passive form (introduction)
-impersonal verbs
-simple sentences
-complex sentences with subordinate clauses in the indicative, subjunctive or conditional moods
3.Vocabulary and culture
The topic ““Italia del Nord ed Italia del Sud: storia, geografia e cultura di una divisione piú o meno apparente” will be the primary basis for exploring vocabulary and culture, as well as developing conversation skills

Assessment Methods
Continuous assessment
Continuous assessment includes the following: a written presentation (min. 200 words) on the topic chosen for the class; a 20-minute oral presentation; a final test on grammar: 100.0%
