Learning Outcomes

Objectives: understanding the conceptual complexity of s. work, through an approach to the relationship between theory and practice in everyday work; provide the acquisition of theoretical and operative knowledge in the field of Individual and Family Social Work, including the conceptual approaches, methodological procedures and modalities of action; teach theoretical and technical / operating Knowledge about observation, communication and data recording; explain the importance of the values and relational skills. Learning outcomes: Knowledge about the methodology of individual and family social intervention;

Theoretical conceptualization about the demands of the interview and observation; Communication skills in the field of helping relationship; Training of data registration procedures; Identification and founding arguments about actual challenges of social work in a micro and mezzo level.

Chapter I - Methods and practices of Social Work with Individuals and Families

1 - Theoretical assumptions: the method of casework Mary Richmond Psychodynamic approaches Mathilde du Ranquet and Critical Perspective Mel Gray and Stephen Webb.

2 - The stages of social work at the micro level: relations between individual -family and environment and Resources Management (individual, collective, professional, formal and informal)

3 – Process linking and boundaries in conception and practice of Social Work: Advocacy, Empowerment, Case management, Social Mediation and Family Mediation.

Chapter II - Specifics of the Helping Relationship in Social Work

1 - Definition, Types and Stages of Help;

2 - Collect and record information in a real observation and interview (help and research);

3 - Challenges in Casework: Assessment of social risk and uncertainty management, promotion of citizenship; advisory; Contracts; Reflective practice and the relation  theory-practice; Research.
