Teaching Methods
Exhibition of theoretical-operative contents, predominantly in the form of slide projection; Analysis and discussion of texts and documents; Practical cases with special emphasis on student participation; Group work on the different topics of the Curricular Unit, with individual presentation and discussion in plenary; Observation and analysis of documentaries / reports that problematize the profile of the target population and fields of intervention of Social Work.Invitation to experts and professionals, among others.
Learning Outcomes
In general, it is intended to: explain and understand the general assumptions underlying social policies, as well as their institutional / operational contextualization in the fields of Health, Education and Justice; to explicitly and normatively and operationally frame the functions, objectives and processes of professional practice in the respective fields under study; reflect on the complexity of the social problems inherent to the target populations of the Social Work intervention; analyze different perspectives and possibilities of intervention in order to offer a critical basis on its theoretical methodological foundations; constructively evaluate the implications of Social Policy in determining the limits and potentialities of the Social Worker's intervention.

FIELDS: HEALTH, EDUCATION AND JUSTICE: Conjunctures, Contexts, Functions and Challenges in Professional Practice
1 - FIELD I - HEALTH
Evolutionary framework of health policy and current configuration of health care organization; functions and practices of Social Work; Target Populations and associated problems; functional framework and resources and strategies of professional intervention.
2. - FIELD II - EDUCATION:
Setting up the Portuguese educational system, school social action and inclusive education, schools, university and polytechnic education, rehabilitation, special education and integrated projects; functions and practices of Social Work; Target Populations and associated problems; functional framework and intervention resources and strategies.
3 - FIELD III JUSTICE:
Configuration of the Portuguese justice system; DGRSP; criminal jurisdiction, execution of sentences and educational tutelary jurisdiction, prisons, penalties and intervention projects.
