Teaching Methods

Exhibition / information of theory and operative contents by the teacher; Analysis and discussion around texts and documents (legislation); Presentation of case studies with particular emphasis on student participation; Small workshops with professional guests; Videoscopy of a filme with transversal tematics of intervention, to structure a global social intervention and problematize the role, the field and the procedures of intervention. Idealization and reality? What do, How to work, and why to do it? The relashionship between theory and the practice.

Learning Outcomes

It is intended, in general, to explain and operationally frame the regulatory functions, objectives and processes of professional practice in the three major contexts of social work intervention :( Local Government, Social Security and Labour/Employment), reflecting on the issues of complexity in the analysis of social issues and target populations of the intervention of Social Work.

Evolutionary picture of health policy and the current configuration of the Organization of Health Care / System Configuration Portuguese Education, Social Education, Inclusive Education / Justice System Configuration, DG Social Welfare, DG of the Prison Service

2.  Institutional settings of business environment

Health Care / Schools, Polytechnic and University Education, Rehabilitation and Special Education, Integrated Projects / Jurisdiction and enforcement of criminal penalties, protect educational Jurisdiction, Establishments correctional measures, Projects

3.  Roles and Practices of Social Work

Target populations (clients) and problems associated functional framework, resources and strategies of professional intervention, Current Challenges to the intervention of social workers
