Teaching Methods

The presentation of theoretical contents will be used in association with the active participation of students, through discussions, document analysis (articles, legislation) and group work.

Learning Outcomes

This uc seeks to promote critical analysis of organizational dimensions of school, as well as encourage reflection on issues of school administration and management (SAM). For this purpose, theoretical frameworks are approached and trends and models of SAM are analyzed. It also aims to promote the discussion around themes and organizational dynamics which are relevant to the understanding of today's schools.

Skills to be developed:

-Recognize the importance of organizational dimensions of school

-Understand basic concepts and theoretical perspectives used in organizational analysis of school

-Characterize trends in the evolution of models of  SAM

-Know basic normative documents related to the administration and management of schools in Portugal

-Understand relevant themes and organizational dynamics, such as school climate and culture, and leadership in school organizations

-Apply theoretical and conceptual frameworks in research and intervention in this area
