Teaching Methods

This course has a theoretical and practical dimension, and covers Sessions of theoretical exposition, analysis of texts and group work, with presentation and discussion on experiences of professional mediators.

The teaching aims to facilitate the understanding the linking between the theoretical components and the modus operandi in professional mediation. The contents of Modules III and IV include case analysis.

 The assessment provides an analysis of texts by students and the writing and oral presentation of a work about one of the modules of the program, or a relevant scientific work.

Learning Outcomes

The unit Theories, Models and Contexts of Mediation (TMCM) integrates the objectives set for the second half of the course. Its objectives are:

•  Explain the relevance of the social, political and scientific conceptual framework of mediation, as a mode of social regulation and conflict resolution, but also as a concept of social intervention suitable for restoration / reconfiguration of social ties in situations of precariousness and vulnerability risk contexts, and peacebuilding;
•  Analyze the theoretical paradigms of development of mediation;
•  To analyze the specificities of social mediation and community;
•  Analyze the methodological procedures of mediation;
•  Deepening the theoretical framework of mediation in Social Work: models, profiles mediation, intervention modalities mediator, mediation skills and strategies;
•  Develop the analytical and operational skills in the field of professional and institutional mediation.

Module 2 - Mediation in Action: Dimension procedural and axiological

3 - Ethics and Deontology of Mediation

 

Module 3 - Social and Community Mediation

1 - European Perspectives

2 - Intervention Models

3 - Contexts of social and community mediation (at level micro, meso and macro), and national experiences

 

Module 4 - Mediation in Social Work: analytical and reflective model

1 - Levels and Profiles Social Mediation

2 - Methods, Skills and Strategies for intervention mediator

3 - Axis Regulators and Analytical parameters of mediation in Social Work
