Teaching Methods
Since this course unit aims to support the development of the skills specified in the unit “Oral and Written Communication”, the "focus on form" approach uses oral and written stimuli, as well as opportunities for language use, to develop an explicit study of the grammatical structures and vocabulary related to the subject fields of the syllabus.
Learning Outcomes
According to the general goals set for level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL), after completing this course unit, students should be able to:
- interact with other speakers in various contexts, in the private and public spheres, namely in educational and professional contexts, demonstrating discourse and practical skills to handle efficiently, with a degree of autonomy, different types of speakers, in common situations of everyday life;
- produce structured and coherent statements on subjects of their interest;
- use with a certain degree of correction a set of grammar structures and forms associated to relatively familiar and predictable situations.
Thus, the goal is to work on lexical and grammar contents necessary for producing and understanding fluent, clear and coherent statements related to the majority of situations that an independent user may encounter in everyday life, both orally and in writing.
