Teaching Methods
The course covers different thematic areas and resorts to dynamic strategies and methods based on constant interaction aiming to deepen the study of the structures of the language.
Learning Outcomes
To acquiring the vocabulary and grammar structures needed to communicate fluently in most situations of everyday life.
The syllabus of this course combines the description and systematization of some grammar topics with the presentation of thematic areas intended to deepen specific lexical and semantic fields and which can also lead to metalinguistic reflection.

1. Thematic areas: Language learning and travel. Getting to know Portugal.
Grammar:
1. Word classes (morphosyntactic and semantic pragmatic aspects)
1.1. Verbs: simple and compound tenses of the indicative and past participle (paradigms of regular and main irregular verb inflection). Infinitive mode and introduction to the present conjunctive
1.2. Verbal periphrases with an auxiliary verb in the infinitive;
1.3. Nouns and adjectives: number; gender; degree (more complex cases);
1.4. Pronouns (personal, possessive, demonstrative, interrogative, indefinite, relative);
1.5. Prepositions and prepositional phrases (location in time and space);
2. Word formation: derivation.
3. Simple sentence; negative, interrogative, passive constructions;
4. Complex sentences: causal, temporal, final, completive and relative subordinates with explicit antecedent.
5. Deictic and discursive placement; textual and argumentative connectors; conversational "politeness"
