Teaching Methods

The methodologies will follow those recommended for teaching a non-native language:

• reading and exploring different types of written texts

• comprehension exercises / interpretation of written texts

• analysis of structures for the development of students linguistic and pragmatic-communicative skills

• metalinguistic reflection;

• theoretical presentation;

• Written exercises for applying the rules and contents that were taught.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course the student should have acquired the skills envisaged in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages for level B1 in order to advance to the B2 level. Must have acquired skills enabling to understand clear standard input in Portuguese, read and comprehend simple texts on topics that are familiar or of personal interest, must recognize / produce coherent and cohesive varied typology texts, including the argumentative text

Verbs : Indicativ compounds tenses (Pretérito Perfeito Composto)

 Subjunctive (Present and Future)

 Verbal periphrases with Infinitive and Gerund

Nouns and Adjectives: review of the most complex cases

Pronouns : Personal (clitic forms), possessive, demonstrative, interrogative, indefinite (negative sentences)

• relative pronouns (introduction)

Quantifiers :

• Review (muito, pouco, todo/a/s, algum/a/s)

• introduction of AMBO/A/S; QUALQUER; CADA

Prepositions and prepositional phrases :

Sentence structure: simple sentence, complex sentence and connectors

Conjunctions and coordinative phrases:

• copulative

• adversative

• disjunctive

• conclusive

Conjunctions and subordinating phrases:

• causal

• conditional
