Students are expected to actively participate in the classes in document analysis and the discussion of some issues.

Learning Outcomes

This course aims to acquaint the students with some of the most important episodes in the History of Portugal, since its foundation in the twelfth century until the democratic revolution of 1974.

The aim is to deepen information on the period of the Portuguese Discoveries, by what is intended to students to become aware of this period importance in the shaping of the Portuguese people.

It is also intend to know the most important external relations which Portugal has been firmly establishing over the centuries, with a particular emphasis on the relation with England, Spain and France.
