The teaching of this course is based on theoretical and theoretical-practical classes, supported by iconographic materials, analysis of texts, group work, readings and individual work.

Learning Outcomes

This course provides an overall perspective on representations of war in the context of Art History (Portuguese, European and trans-European), using case studies in painting, engraving, tapestry, bas-relief, miniature, design, 'ex-votos', textiles, posters, and military, civil and religious architecture, exploring in historical, iconographic and iconological terms the plural meanings of works that are considered representative.
