Recommended Prerequisites
Basic Concepts of Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning
Teaching Methods
In the theoretical-practical classes basic principles, theories and design methods applicable to the different topics of the program, are presented using audiovisual tools. This presentation is, when relevant, complemented with practical examples, as is with the resolution of practical problems, which help in the consolidation of the understanding of the applicability of concepts and methods.
There exists tutorial support given to students, normally in group work, dealing with the resolution of practical problems and the development of at least one practical project, directed at the analysis of a reality inspired problem, of some complexity and where it is essential the integration of sectorial design techniques and methodologies.
Learning Outcomes
Development of specialized competences to solve multi-disciplinary Traffic Engineering problems.
Learning of the potential, applicability conditions and design principles and methodologies associated to the main road, pedestrian and bicycle networks’ components.
Development of basic systemic and integrated analysis competences with special emphasis on problems located within urban environments.
