2nd Cycle Studies - Mestrado
Recommended Prerequisites
General knowledge of building materials, building physics and building technology.
Teaching Methods
Lectures in order to systematize and organize knowledge and approach methodologies, complemented by theoretical-practical classes. Given the thematic context of the course, all classes (T and TP) include real examples of the characterization of buildings in different cities and from different times, favoring the presentation of applied research projects. Students are permanently encouraged to develop small work of observation and critical analysis of the reality surrounding them in the field of rehabilitation.
Learning Outcomes
The overall objective is to provide students with solid knowledge in the field of non-structural rehabilitation of buildings.
At the end of the course students should be able to:
a) Observe, identify and describe existing constructive solutions in facades and roofs with evaluation of their expected performance in a specific functional context.
b) Observe, describe and record non-structural anomalies in the existing construction solutions in facades and roofs and other building elements
c) Diagnosing non-structural anomalies in the existing construction solutions in facades and roofs and in other building elements.
d) Define strategies for rehabilitation for a wide number of non-structural anomalies, displaying capacity for basic research and experimentation, for the definition of rehabilitation techniques and materials.
e) Prepare summary reports of pathology and rehabilitation.
