Recommended Prerequisites

Previous knowledge of mathematics, physics, numerical methods, hydraulics, building physics and construction materials.

Teaching Methods

Theoretical and practical concepts are transmitted in the classroom, focusing on the themes defined in the syllabus, and also presenting case studies and practical application of problem solving. Students develop a project regarding the topics lectured in this unit.

The evaluation of the theoretical and theoretical-practical is carried out through an examination (12/20), and the practical component is assessed by developing the mentioned project (8/20).

Learning Outcomes

The students shall develop skills of synthesis and analysis, oral and written communication, problem solving, critical reflection, autonomous learning and practical application of theoretical knowledge.

Students should be able to interpret, elaborate and present projects for sanitary water supply, wastewater drainage and rainwater in a building; size: special wastewater pumping facilities, hydropressive sanitary water installations, specific firefighting systems.

They should also understand the operation of: water heating systems (gas, electric and solar thermal collectors); micro and mini generation systems in buildings based on the use of photovoltaic panels; specific technical systems in buildings, such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, electrical systems and computer / telecommunications facilities.
