Seminar Course in Mathematical Modeling

Recommended Prerequisites

Differential and Integral Calculus, Numerical Analysis, Optimization, Probability and Statistics and Programming.

Teaching Methods

This course requires the attendance of seminars, short courses, and conferences. In particular, it can be fulfilled by attending the Modeling Week of the European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry.

Learning Outcomes

The main goal is to contact with projects in mathematical modeling (where problems are given in non-mathematical terms) and foster the discussion and report around those experiences, following the model of the Modeling Week of the European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry.

The project course aims at developing the following skills: knowledge of mathematical results; ability to formulate and solve problems. On the personal level it also allows to develop self-learning and communication skills.
