Recommended Prerequisites

Mass and Energy Balances; Fluid Dynamics; Solid-Liquid Operations; Heat Transfer; Mass Transfer; Introduction to Reaction Engineering; Chemical Reactors; Separation Processes.

Teaching Methods

Students must carry out six different experiments and visit a plant.

The experiments are carried out in group of no more than three elements.

Learning Outcomes

The primary objective of Chemical Engineering Laboratory II is to promote the integration of knowledge acquired in other courses in the 2nd year and first semester of the 3rd year by performing experiments and carrying out analysis of systems comprising different units, including reactors. In addition, this course aims at:

1. enhancing experimental skills while making use of theoretical knowledge acquired in other courses: transfer phenomena, separation processes and chemical reactors

2. developing the understanding of Chemical Engineering Systems

3. extending the ability to use theoretical information in solving new problems.

4. getting information on how chemical plants work by visiting a plant.

5. developing the following skills: critical analysis and synthesis, decision-making, oral and written communication.

6.developing ability for  teamwork.
