Teaching Methods

This course is taught in a theoretical/practical way, with the purpose to initiate the students in research activities, to increase their ability to analyze a financial problem, and to be able of developing self-learning skills.

The student assessment will be made by three individual written essays that consist of a critical analysis of three scientific papers published in international journals with referee. Each one should focus on one of the topics covered on main topics of the program. These works will be presented in the classroom. Teacher should approve the proposed papers.

Learning Outcomes

  The aim of this course is to provide doctoral students with a body of knowledge that will enable them to become aware of the importance of strategic financial decisions. Additionally, it seeks to foster the capacity for analysis and critical assessment of the decisions that are taken in specific circumstances of a company's life, always with reference to the maximization of its value. Doctoral students are expected to develop the skills to apply the learned concepts in decision-making on specific firms’ circumstances and throughout the different stages of their life cycle.
