Operative’s Dentistry basic knowledge.

Teaching Methods

Teaching methods include addition of theoretical explanations the conduct of clinical work by applying the theoretical and practical knowledge. The electronic media and e-learning will also be used. The evaluation will be theoretical performance of a test (70%) and continuing clinical work performed (30%). 

Learning Outcomes

This curricular unit aims to develop thinking skills in order to produce a correct diagnosis of dental caries, apply the most current classification and determine the risk factors. Skills of conservative and minimally invasive dental caries will also be developed in light of new concepts and techniques.

Syllabus

The dentistry and restorative dentistry in general have followed a path more oriented towards disease prevention and its reappearance in the early diagnosis and, when necessary, to conservative and minimally invasive procedures. The way to approach this chair a philosophy based on scientific evidence gathered over several decades. This unit features:

1. The approach of the concept of minimally invasive dentistry

2. The analysis of several reasons for a minimally invasive dentistry cariology

3. An indication of the current criteria for invasive treatment and / or preventive

4. The presentation of some processing techniques that preserve healthy tooth structure.
