Recommended Prerequisites

The acquired in the Pre-Graduate Course (MD) or in the Specialty of Stomatology (M). 

Teaching Methods

Teaching methods include addition of theoretical explanations the conduct of clinical work by applying the theoretical and practical knowledge. The electronic media and e-learning will also be used. The evaluation will be theoretical performance of a test (70%) and continuing clinical work performed (30%). 

Learning Outcomes

The purpose of this subject is the transmission and update knowledge of dental materials, their compositions, mechanical properties, handling characteristics and clinical indications. Within this framework will be addressed all materials suitable for use in Operative and Aesthetic Dentistry, like is the realization of the final treatment, or in the intermediate steps until the final results.

General Properties of Dental Materials. Impression materials: types, properties, handling, clinical indications. Gypsum: types, properties, handling, indications. Adhesive systems: composition, classification, manipulation, clinical indications. Composites: composition, classification, manipulation, clinical indications. Amalgam: composition, reactions, classification, handling, environment.
