Teaching Methods

In the case of a course with about 175 students where just theoretical teaching is contemplated, we try to find a compromise between the theoretical content that supports clinical decision and the resolution of real clinical cases that include in the work team Community Pharmacists. Like this, the students thus feel closer to reality that awaits him.
In this context, the assessment stablished seems most appropriate to obtain better outcomes of the learning process and the final examination as written test is a good way to measure the level of knowledge acquire.

Learning Outcomes

The intervention of the pharmacist in support of the therapeutic approach, should be based on solid knowledge Pharmacology, so you can decide on the desirable and undesirable actions of medicines, ensuring a main supporting society in the establishment and enforcement of effective therapy. In this line of thought and self-medication since it is a reality that allows the patient to acquire medication that does not require a prescription, assuming responsibility itself treatment, it becomes necessary to involve the pharmaceutical this challenge. The pharmacist must have general knowledge and specific face the most frequent situations, the therapeutic resources, including medicines and other health products herbal, and management of patients, which is conditioned by their individual characteristics, disease and therapies. You must have knowledge enabling them to refer the patient to the doctor.

General principles of self-medication; responsibilities and pharmaceutical functions.
Guidance for pharmaceutical care. Information and communication to the patient.
Patient Assessment. Therapeutic strategy. Treatment protocols.
Accountability of the patient in self-medication.
Pharmaceutical indication in the main light painful situations; disorders of the upper respiratory tract, digestive tract and mild dermatological.
Emergency Hormonal Contraception: analysis, evaluation and discussion of the transfer protocol.

Phytotherapy in current therapy. Health products herbal: quality, safety and efficacy. Monography and legislation

Phytotherapy in specific clinical situations (active constituents, modes of action;
contraindications; interactions and dosage): central nervous system, cardiovascular, urinary and digestive; immunostimulant and adpatogenic action; treatment for post-menopause and andropause, erectile dysfunction and obesity
Interactions with antineoplasic agents.
