Learning Outcomes

On the course "Dissertation" it is intended that students develop a research project of high scientific and/or technical merit. This project should be, whenever possible, carried out under the guidance of lecturers/researchers trained in the area. The dissertation must be an original work with scientific impact and to be most developed by the student. It must have also a positive impact in clinical and care provision. It is intended that during the thesis project, leading to master's degree, the student acquires the skills that will allow him/her to understand the process of researching, including experimental component and data analysis, as well as its dissemination through the publication of scientific articles in international journals with peer review. In the end, the student should have acquired skills that will allow him/her to start or developing work in the area of long-term and palliative care as well as to propose and develop research projects in the area.

Syllabus

The student should develop an original work of scientific and/or clinic relevance, in the area of continuing and palliative care. In this context, the student should approach an original issue, identifying and using appropriate technical and technological resources needed to test the hypothesis. The student must be in contact with various techniques and methodologies, enabling him/her to have an interdisciplinary and integrative perspective of the research process. In the development of the work the student will be closely monitored and on a regular basis, by supervisors, who will guide the student on tasks, on experimental design and interpretation of the obtained results. The student will be encouraged to actively participate in the activities of dissemination of his/her work, in the form of scientific articles in national/international journals with peer review, either in the form of presentation in scientific congresses.
