Teaching Methods

The teaching-learning process is supported by three types of strategies:

a) Reading texts and identifying the strengths, opportunities and difficulties arising from the co-construction of the parental education intervention, from both the parents’ and the educator’s point of view;

b) Writing an ad for recruiting a parental educator, evidencing the relevant requirements applicants must present;

c) Developing an interview grid for selecting an educator (each interview must have the maximum duration of 30 minutes). The interview must allow the interviewer to assess the applicant’s skills as regards the golden rule of the parental educator. Therefore, the following must be identified: i) topics for the interview: ii) different parts of the interview and different questions that compose them; iii) score (in a 0 to 20 scale) for each of the parts/questions, divided between 3 levels of answer (non-existent or insufficient skill, emerging skill and clear domain of the skill); iv) types of answers that might be provided for each of the 3 previous levels and for each part/question.

During the whole module, students will be able to ask questions about, and receive feedback on, the ongoing activities by the course professors.

The assessment will be based on a 0 to 20 scale and will consist of the activities mentioned in a), b) and c). All of the activities will contribute equally to the final grade.
