Reading texts; exercises of reading comprehension and vocabulary and grammar use; production of written texts and respective correction.

Learning Outcomes

Students should be able to

– understand personal letters and other short, simple texts on familiar topics;

– find specific information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, prospectuses, menus,timetables, etc.;

– write short messages and simple personal letters;

– write brief and coherent texts on familiar topics and past experiences, thereby consolidating previously learned vocabulary and structures.

Syllabus

Topics related to basic needs and frequent activities; introduction/revision of vocabulary; reading and writing on topics such as:

  • Personal and biographical data
  • Everyday activities
  • Travel
  • Special occasions.

 

Specific aspects of writing:

 • The sound and the written form of Portuguese words

• Graphic accents
• Punctuation
• Forms of address; beginning and ending letters and other messages.

 

General grammar issues and language use in writing:
• Common verbs and their complements, with special attention to fixed prepositions
• Use of the indicative verb forms previously studied
• Use of articles in various contexts
• Use of prepositions in expressions of time and place
• Use of connectors between sentences and ideas in order to write coherent texts.
