Recommended Prerequisites

A solid knowledge on Development Psychology and Social Psychology is highly recommended. The student must have good English reading skills.

Teaching Methods

Exposition of themes and problems. Debate in class. Homework and fieldwork proposals.

Cases’simulation. Problem solving and reflection based on dilemmas about human relationships.

Presentation of small videos of theoretical perspectives by the authors themselves and debate in class according to the above. Possibilities of socio-cultural circumscription of psychological impact of all issues approached. Collective writing of small essays on class. Communication exercises and human relations mediated by the teacher.

Learning Outcomes

Departing from theories on Communication and on Counselling, we invite students into a personal reflection about learning aspects and personal and professional skills they which to attain.

Understanding circumstancies and opportunities in order to apprehend those cultural frames that people tend to neglect. Discussion about the importance of critical thinking and historic consciousness at the root of all conceptual frames in psychology.

Develop practical Counseling skills.

Know how to use techniques and strategies of Psychological Consultation in a context of cultural diversity.
