Recommended Prerequisites

None. We recommended, however, some knowledge in the area of Organizational Psychology.

Teaching Methods

In conjunction with the objectives set for this discipline and with the ongoing evaluation system will use teaching methods focused on students and requiring all an attitude of great involvement and participation. So, be held individual and group work, role play sessions, classroom presentations, discussions and reflections in small and large groups. Sessions are planned with guests and study visits, targeting a wider approach to intervention and change in organizations on issues related to the themes studied.

Learning Outcomes

Main objectives:

- To identify the different types of organizational change.

- To identify the different variables that determine the process of change in organizations and discuss their impact on that process.

- To indicate factors associated with resistance to change.

- To recognize, explain and critically discuss approaches, methods and techniques related to organizational change and development.

The course is devoted to the learning of technological theories and intervention skills, in the field of Organizational Psychology. Offers know-how concerning interventions in the field of organizational psychology as well as an overview of approaches for intervention related to the design, functioning, and change of organizations.

Syllabus

1. Organizational change: concept; types, approaches and models about change; agents and targets of change, driving forces and resistance to change.

2. The resistance to change: causes, types of resistance to change; Methods and techniques for managing resistance to change.

3. The management of change: models of planned change; techniques for managing change: excellence and Outsourcing, Empowerment & TQM; Downsizing and Reengineering, Benchmarkin, Jus in Time and Lean Production.

4. Change and organizational development: field definitions, values, different types of interventions and the OD research.

5. Evaluation of change and OD: organizational assessment programs; criteria and aspects to consider in the evaluation of organizational change: steps.

6. Organizational change: multiculturalism and global thinking (including the capacity to interact with other frameworks, manage local cultural realities considering global trends, and work in international contexts).
