Recommended Prerequisites

Knowledge of Basic mathematics and basic statistical concepts.

Teaching Methods

Theoretic-practical lessons. There will be formerly presented a set of tools that allows statistical inference. Its exemplification shall be done with practical cases and with empirical applications in SPSS. A set of proposed exercicies are meant to be solved by the students during class. 

Learning Outcomes

The main goal is to provide the students basic knowledge that allows them to perform statistics analyses in Management and Economy. The students should be able to understand, apply and select the set of statistical instruments that they need and interpret the results correctly.  The course unit also aims to familiarize the students with Statistics support software.

Syllabus

Basic statistics concepts.

Statistical inference: confidence intervals and tests for one sample and two samples (mean and proportion).

 Analysis of the variance- ANOVA.

Regression analysis: topics on simple and multiple regression.
