Recommended Prerequisites

Engineering materials. Elasticity and plasticity. Strength of materials. Failure modes. Technical drawing. Heat and mass transfer: Mechanical Technology II.

Teaching Methods

Classes run under theoretical and theoretical-practical modes. In the lectures are presented the concepts and technologies associated with the concepts. In practical classes some aspects are more detailed by using audiovisual technologies and practical exercises performed in classes or laboratory. Students participate actively in the education process, being asked to present and discuss their solutions for problems and works distributed. The classes are further complemented with visits to industrial companies.

Learning Outcomes

Impart supplementary knowledge in the area of materials bonding technologies. Examples are special welding and thermal cutting processes, brazing and bonding Impart supplementary knowledge in the technology of production of parts by subtracting material. Highlighting the difference between conventional and unconventional cutting technologies. Analyze the criteria that determine the selection of these technologies and cutting tools. Highlight the importance of the manufacturing sequence on the quality and productivity of parts. Highlight the importance of computerized numerical control and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software. It is intended to develop skills that provide the resolution of problems in these areas.
