Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer (1st cycle).

Teaching Methods

The theoretical classes foster critical thinking in the engineering problem-solving approach, with discussion of course topics illustrated through practical examples. The theoretical-practical classes focus on developing autonomy in the analysis and resolution of applied problems, approached in detail, with a systematic methodology and active student interaction. Assessment methods include a midterm test and a second test or final exam at the end of the semester.

Learning Outcomes

Objectives – To deepen, complement, and apply the fundamental knowledge of Heat Transfer (acquired during the first cycle), focusing on the following topics: emissivity and absorptivity spectra with blackbody radiation fraction; radiation exchange through absorbing media; performance analysis and sizing of finned systems; convection with phase change (boiling and condensation); design and analysis of heat exchangers; evolutionary design; mass transfer.

Skills to be developed – Estimative calculation of heat transfer in industrial systems; design and performance analysis of thermal equipment (e.g., heat exchangers, condensers, evaporators/steam-generating boilers); analysis of mass transfer processes.
