Pratical Studies - Swimming; High level of swimming strokes.    

Teaching Methods

The theoretical sessions have a expository format and are focused on a main theme. The theoretical and practical sessions are related to swimming  teaching and learning and skills improvement. During the semester the student will participate in supervised teaching practices in real environment including 2 lessons whose conception and implementation is of his own responsibility. These tasks should produce a reflective report.

Learning Outcomes

The program aims to further the the assumptions of professional intervention in the field of aquatic activities, including the teaching of swimming and in the field of swimming as a sport.

At the end of the semester students should: a) demonstrate high ability to interpret technical models of stroke, recognizing deviations, formulating appropriate strategies to solve the technical errors, b) know and apply the teaching swimming programs to diverse populations and ages.

Syllabus

The theoretical program includes: analysis and interpretation of the regulations of swimming sports (FPN - FINA), fundamentals of hydrodynamics and propulsion; analysis of swimming techniques in biomechanics perspective, observation and evaluation of swimming techniques, organization of teaching swimming and application a teaching swimming program for different levels; the theoretical-practical program aims to increase the repertoire for acting  in the error detection and selection of appropriate correction strategies, the use of instruments for  technical observation.
