Teaching Methods

Teaching methodologies:

After and also during each work session there shall be the opportunity for dialog.

Presentation of reports that result from personal research.

Methods of evaluation:

Participation on the seminar discussions (15 %);

Research report (85 %).

Learning Outcomes

It’s intended to promote the research concerning some central items of the Principles of European Tort Law. The students shall learn the state of the art in what concerns e.g. fault and causality.

Syllabus

At first, it’s important to discuss the structure of the “Principles”, divided in 6 Titles; Basic Norn, General conditions of liability, Bases of liability, Defenses, Multiple tortfeasors and Remedies.

Secondly, to compare these rules and principles with Portuguese law.
